The Morgan Dollars are essentially memorable to their creation under the
Brand-Allison Act. Wherein, the United States Treasury had to purchase between two and four million dollars of silver monthly to be converted into dollars, with this, the birth of the Morgan Dollar. This particular first issue coin was especially significant due to the error that was created upon producing it. There was an incorrect portrayal of the amount of tail feathers an eagle has. The tail feathers of an eagle are equal amounts, like 8 - hence the depiction of 7 being incorrect.
The Philadelphia Mint produced
53.42 % of all Morgan dollars issued between 1878 and 1921 The Philadelphia Mint Morgan does not bear a Mint Mark like the branch mints. A Philadelphia Mint Morgan dollar can be determined by looking on the back of the coin below the Eagle...NO mint mark is present above the letters "O" and "L" in the word "Dollar".
