About this Product

The Franklin Liberty Half Dollar is a 1st in United States Mint design history!

Benjamin Franklin is the ONLY non-President to appear on a circulating United States coin, hence, it was one of the most popular issues ever released by the United States Mint. It was replaced due to the tragic death of President John F. Kennedy, in 1964.

The Franklin Liberty Half Dollar was issued between 1948 and 1963. It weighs 12.5 grams of .900 fine silver, with a diameter of 30.6 mm, a net silver content of .36169 ounces. It was struck at three of the United States Mints: Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco. On the obverse is the portrait of Benjamin Franklin, while the reverse shows the infamous Liberty Bell.

This 1953 San Francisco Mint, Franklin Half dollar is ranked number 10 out of 35 with a mintage of 4,148,000. It is in Uncirculated condition and will arrive to you presented in a gold embossed-titled, 4 x 6 felt card and then enclosed by a protective acrylic lens.
