About this Product

1965 Kennedy Half Dollar

The Kennedy Half Dollar is considered by many to be the #1 collector coin in the country...and it is back for its 50th anniversary! The Kennedy Half Dollar was first minted in 1964, just months after the assassination of President John F Kennedy. The silver coins minted in 1964 for circulation quickly vanished due to hoarding, and collectors. Therefore, even though the Mint greatly increased production for that year, it is incredibly rare to see these dates in circulation. Additionally, the high worth of silver caused nearly have of these coins to be melted, so no one even knows how many 1964 Kennedys exist today! Thus, beginning in 1965 the silver content in these coins was reduced to 40%, and then completely eliminated by 1971. Furthermore, the US Mint stopped minting Kennedy Half Dollars for circulation in 2001.

On the reverse of this coin is an eagle along with the presidential coat of arms for the motif, and on the obverse is the bust of John F Kennedy.

This Roll of 10 contains coins from the Philadelphia Mint and they are 40% silver.
