1971 Eisenhower Dollar - 1st Yr of Issue - Silver - Uncirculated
Philadelphia, Denver, San Francisco or West Point
Was this dollar meant to be a secret?
Over 100 million coins were made, but only a fraction (less than
) were made out of silver!
Was it meant to be a secret? Probably not, but with so few made, it easily can be slated that no one knew about it until now.
People are looking at their collections and noticing differences??....There are
coins mixed in!
When the United States Mint in San Fransisco struck the .400 silver coins, it actually created two different versions:
Proof and Brilliant Uncirculated
These dollars were struck each year from 1971-1974. None were minted in 1975, due to the fact that the U.S. Mint was preparing for the Bicentennial issue. Due to the high cost of silver, it is unlikely that the Ike Dollar will ever be struck again, in silver.
All Eisenhower Silver Dollars (Proof and Unc) were struck at the San Francisco Mint and bear the "S" Mint mark above the date on the obverse.
Mintage of these Silver coins were very small - they are difficult to find.
These coins will arrive to you in our Special Custom Lens Presentation case.
