2011 is the second year of issue for the "The America the Beautiful Quarters™". There will be one quarter per state, just like the 50 State Program, but the design will be based on one of the National Parks located in each state. The order will be based on when they were introduced as a National Treasure.
Five coins will be released each year, each depicting national parks and other recreational sites. The national sites will be featured in the order they were established as national sites. Experts believe this program will be the #1 program in US Mint history. "These new quarters will honor some of our most revered, treasured and beautiful national sites, majestic and historic places located throughout the United States and its territories that truly make us "America the Beautiful"", said US Mint Director Ed Moy.
