The U.S. Mint released 4 new Cent designs in 2009, each honoring a historical part in Abraham Lincoln's life. The second issue in the series (Formative Years in Indiana (1816-1830)) depicts a young Abraham Lincoln reading while taking a break from working as a "Rail Splitter" in Indiana. Known for his love for books, Abraham Lincoln educated himself by reading. He could often be seen carrying a book along with his axe.
