In 1943, the United States was facing a shortage of copper - it was critical to the United States War Effort in World War II. To save copper, the Treasury Department issued zinc-coated steel for one year only. The Steel Cents were made at three U.S. Mints: Philadelphia ( P ) Mint, Denver ( D ) Mint and the San Francisco ( S ) Mint. Our Mint Mark Collection includes all 3 issues in Uncirculated condition, presented in our custom lens display. |
