The 2011 Vickburg Quarter is the NINTH coin in the United States America the Beautiful Quarter Series. The series began in 2010 and honors one national park from each of the 50 States as well as Washington D.C. and the five territories.The unique reverse design on the Vicksburg National MilitaryPark Quarter features the USS Cairo as it would have appeared as a U.S. Navy warship in the Civil War. An ironclad gunboat, the ship was used on the Ohio and Mississippi RIvers and their tributaries in the early part of the Civil War.
