About this Product

The "Nolan Ryan" Silver Dollar

In the 200 plus year history of the United States Mint, there have been many different coins honoring numerous politicians, generals, founding fathers, landmarks, and anniversaries. Yet it took them until 1992 to finally create a coin honoring our nation's most prestigious athletic past-time: Baseball! The 1992 Baseball Silver Dollar is often referred to by another name among coin collectors: The 1992 "Nolan Ryan" Silver Dollar. "Officially" the United States Mint didn't put any one person on the coin, because doing so was against a federal law, and you know that the government NEVER makes a mistake (we would complain, but we love those rare error coins). Official or not there is one fact they cannot deny: If you place Mr. Ryan's 1991 Fleer Baseball Card next to the Mint's "This isn't Ryan" Silver Dollar, you will notice that the pictures are completely identical, down to the exact placement of the folds on his jersey!
