About this Product

A US Mint First!

The Boy Scouts of America Centennial Commemorative Coin Act passed in 2008 made way for a .900 fine Silver Dollar to be struck to celebrate the Boy Scouts 100th Anniversary in 2010. This is the 1st Special Service Organization Silver Dollar Ever authorized and struck by the US Mint. It was released earlier this year with a miniscule edition limit of 350,000 coins .. that's 30% less than they made for the 2009 Lincoln Silver Dollar last year ... And it quickly Sold Out !!! .. not to hard to understand why .. there are millions currently active in scouting and even more who have been involved over the years .. and it doesn't hurt having a portion of the sales price from the mint going to support scouting nationwide.

The .900 Fine Silver Dollar was struck in Uncirculated and Proof condition .. both at the Philadelphia Mint. On the front of the coin, a cub scout, boy scout, and female venturer salute. The dates 1910 and 2010 mark the anniversary. The words "Continuing the Journey" are part of the celebration's theme. On the back, the Boy Scouts of America's emblem is front and center. The motto "Be Prepared" appears near the rim, along with the name "Boy Scouts of America" and standard inscriptions.

This Proof 2010 Boy Scout Silver Dollar is in original government packaging.
