About this Product Full Product Name

Forgotten Pre-Civil War Half Dollars from New Orleans: The Silver Seated Liberty Hoard!

Coin Collecting is so much more than just a hobby; it is a lifetime passion that encompasses thousands of years of human history. In the United States alone, we have produced well over 500 different coins since 1793 (and that is not even counting multiple mint marks, which expands the total immensely!)

With so any different pieces of United States coinage, it is easy to see how some of the best kept secrets in coin collecting ‘fall through the cracks’ so to speak.

While in Baltimore for the Whitman Coin Expo, we got lucky enough to come across several FULL ROLLS of those well-kept collector secrets – specifically the Seated Liberty Half Dollars!

But wait – it gets even better! The full rolls we found were all from the United States’ only ‘Southern Mint’ – New Orleans! That makes these Seated Liberty Half Dollars truly rare collecting secrets!

The Storied ‘Southern Mint’ and its Super-Rare Half Dollars

The New Orleans Mint has a very rich history, which first began in 1835 when the Federal Government was facing a shortage in circulating coinage. The Mint operated continuously from 1838 until January 26, 1861, when the state of Louisiana seceded from the United States of America. This ‘New’ Government let all federal employees remain, but only if they became employees of the state and not the federal government...the very next month, March, saw Louisiana join the Confederate Government and the Mint changed sides once more. The following year in April of 1862, the Union had retaken New Orleans and the Mint was finally back where it started -- in the control of the United States of America’s Federal Government.

The Seated Liberty Half Dollars from the New Orleans Mint are a true collecting rarity – if you add up every single year of issue at the ‘Southern Mint’ you get a total of just about 49,000,000 Seated Liberty Half Dollars!

Compare that to the more than 429,000,000 Kennedy Half Dollars struck in 1964 alone!

These New Orleans Seated Liberty Half Dollars are almost 9-times rarer than just the 1964 Kennedy!

Each of our Seated Liberty Half Dollars are in collector’s quality circulated condition from the New Orleans Mint from before the Civil War (1838 to 1860) with the dates being our choice.

It is not every day that you get your hands on a coin as iconic as these New Orleans Seated Liberty Silver half dollars, so when we came across a few complete rolls we snatched them up right away…and our lucky find translates directly to savings for you!

But hurry, with just a few rolls available, these are sure to disappear fast!

Grab yours now!

Each coin will arrive encapsulated and in a black collector's pouch.
