This set contains a 1979, 1980, 1981 Proof versions of the Susan B. Anthony Dollar.

As we all know, Susan B. Anthony was a pivotal person on the plight for womens suffrage. She was recognized by her plight with the placement of her image on the dollar starting in 1979 and honored through 1981 and then again in 1999. Placing Susan B. Anthony's image on the dollar in 1979 was a United States Mint first, the first United States coin to ever portray the image of an actual woman...not a theme or a model.

It has been over 25 years since the SBA was put into circulation in 1979. It was the last coin to be created for circualtion by all three United States Mints - Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco. The 1981 issues were only released in "Special" United States Mint Sets. There was a single Proof created for each year the dollar was struck...a few die varieties do exist.
