Real-Life Shipwreck Sunken Treasure!

NGC Certified Authentic 'Admiral Gardner' Copper Cash Coins!

A few months ago, we introduced something special found at a local coin show -- real-life pieces of Sunken Treasure! The recovered silver from the iconic 'El Cazador' Shipwreck sold out almost immediately, with many requests for restock notifications.

While it's not the same treasure, we have acquired a small collection of 'Copper Cash' coins. These were lost by the British East India Company when the Admiral Gardner sank in the English Channel on Goodwin Sands. These '10 Copper' cash coins were crucial in many island economies and each has been certified by NGC as authentic pieces of sunken treasure from the Admiral Gardner.

The 'Admiral Gardner's Sunken Hoard: A Real-Life Shipwreck Treasure Discovery

The British East India Trading Company was a dominant force globally, operating numerous trading posts with their own military, significantly influencing their home country's economy. However, they met their match against Mother Nature.

In early 1809, the Admiral Gardner embarked on a journey through the English Channel to India, carrying thousands of newly minted copper coins and other goods. A massive storm soon overtook the ship, leading to its sinking at the Goodwin Sands, with a loss of its entire 21,579 Pound cargo. Fortunately, a nearby ship rescued most of the crew members.

The aftermath of the storm revealed the loss of three ships: the Admiral Gardner, The Britannia, and The Apollo.
