About this Product

The 1908 $2-1/2 gold indian was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens. The obverse shows the head of Liberty crowned with an Indian war bonnet while the reverse features an eagle. 1908 was the first year of issue to feature the Motto "In God We Trust" on the reverse.

The $2-1/2 gold indian was struck out of .900 fine US Gold and issued between 1908 and 1929. Part of it's allure is the departure from all other US coinage .. it features no raised edge and the design is a sunken relief below the surface of the coin .. an incuse design. It was a radical change and is recognized today as part of the 20th-century renaissance of American coinage.

This coin is in Uncirculated condition comes encapsulated and presented in a custom display box.
