About this Product

1925 Special Release Half Dollars

In 1925, the U.S. Mint did not release a regular issue Walking Liberty half dollar into circulation. BUT they did release two Special Silver Half Dollars to commemorate significant struggles in our country's quest for Freedom and Democracy...one for the Revolutionary War Battles of Lexington and Concord and the other a tribute to the Confederate soldiers who fought during the Civil War...The Stone Mountain Memorial.

Also in 1925, The U.S. Mint released a Silver Half Dollar to help raise funds for the construction of a Memorial on Stone Mountain in Georgia. The obverse features Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas "Stonewall" Jackson on horse back. The reverse shows a majestic American Eagle and the inscription "Memorial to the Valor of the Soldier of the South". This special piece was released on January 21st, 1925..."Stonewall" Jackson's birthday. Each coin is a hand selected, circulated issue encapsulated and protected inside a black pouch.
