About this Product

A Buffalo Beginning and the End

The Buffalo Nickel, a coin launched in 1913 and abolished in 1938, was a coin that many considered to truly embody the American spirit. It bore the image of NYC's infamous "Black Diamond Buffalo." It was not without critics, however, with the New York Times calling it both unpleasing when new, and dull when used. After the minimum 25- year period during which Congress designated that a design could not be replaced without their authorization, it was replaced by the current Jefferson nickel.
This collectible 1st Year represents the actual first year of issue of the Jefferson Nickel. In 2006, the United State Mint changed the face of the Jefferson Nickel with the first "face-forward" design...but this set is the true first ever Jefferson Nickel that was issued in 1938.

Here you get a rare opportunity to obtain both a last and first year issue of a special coin. The 1938 Denver Buffalo Nickel and the first year 1938 Denver Jefferson Nickel. Both of these coins are in uncirculated condition, which with coins like these is extremely important because they are subject to wear.

You won't find a set like this anywhere else, so act fast!
