About this Product

In 1971 the U.S. Mint brought back a large dollar denominated coin for the 1st time since the Peace Dollar Series ended in 1935. The new dollar honored our 32nd President Dwight D. Eisenhower and the first landing of man on the moon. The initial reverse design featured an eagle and the moon, commemorating Apollo 11.

The first proof Eisenhower Dollar wasn't struck until two years later - in 1973.

Proofs were struck for collectors and never released into circulation. Each of these coins feature razor sharp Proof designs. This special 6-piece set includes the Proof Eisenhower Dollars issued from 1973-1978. This collection includes both Type 1 (low relief, bold lettering) and Type 2 (sharp, delicate lettering) reverse designs for the 1776-1976 coins! Each coin is encapsulated in a capsule and presented in our custom display box.

All six coins were only released in U.S. Proof Sets ... they were not available individually. So few had an opportunity to own them!
