About this Product

SEVEN DIFFERENT LINCOLN CENTS IN ONE YEAR!

The 1982 Lincoln Type Set...throughout it's near 100 year history, the Lincoln Cent has seen a number of changes! From the Steel Cents issued during WWII to the new Lincoln Memorial reverse in 1959. Forgotten by most, were the two changes made in 1982, one to the metal alloy and one to it's design.

The first change was the Cent's composition to copper plated zinc. These coins, created still today, contain 99.2% Zinc & .08% Copper. It's identical in size and appearance, but at 2.5 grams it is lighter than previously issued 1982 cent at 3.11 grams.

The second change happened midway through the year. The printing dies were modified with Lincoln's bust, lettering and the date being made slightly smaller.

These results yielded seven different Lincoln cents being issued in 1982. They are known as Large Date/Small Date Type Set. This collection features a Large date and Small date for each of the Philadelphia and Denver Mint Lincoln Cents made with the new alloy, a Large Date and Small Date for the Philadelphia Mint Cents with the previous composition, (.950 Copper) and finally, a .950 copper Large Date Denver Mint Cent.

All versions in ONE Set!
