About this Product

New Jersey is the third coin honored in the State Quarter Program. New Jersey ratified the Constitution on December 18, 1787. It is preceeded by Delaware and Pennsylvania. The New Jersey commemorative quarter features a rendering of George Washington crossing the Delaware River. It is based on the 1851 painting by Emanuel Leutz and shows Washington standing in his boat accompanied by members of the Colonial Army. Of special note, the obverse also features a portrait of George Washington - making this a rare example of a circulating coin honoring the same person on both the obverse and the reverse. The only other example in American coinage is the Lincoln Cent with the Lincoln Memorial on the reverse.

This State quarter is an uncirculated coin from the Philadelphia Mint. Please keep the coins in their protective airtite coin holder provided to maintain their uncirculated condition.
