The West Virginia State Quarter was the fifth and final State Quarter issued in 2005. It also completes the 7th year in the original ten-year collection that will eventually honor all 50 states. West Virginia was the 35th state, so this coin is the 35th overall in the collection. The West Virginia State Quarter celebrates the state's natural beauty as well as one of America's greatest engineering feats. The New River Gorge Bridge rises 876 feet above New River, and at 3,030 feet long it is the world's largest steel span bridge.

This Collectors Alliance exclusive product contains three uncirculated quarters: one each to represent the circulation from the Philadelphia and Denver mints, and a third to show it's unique design. The album tells the story of the state and it's acceptance into our Union. PLUS, fascinating facts about the state. The back page shows a map of the United States and a diagram indicating the order of which each state in the program will be released.

In December 1997, America's most adventurous coin program became a reality when President Clinton signed legislation authorizing the U.S. Mint to issue the innovative 50 State Quarters collection. Starting in January 1999, each of the 50 states in the Union will be honored on a unique Quarter Dollar commemorative coin. Five states will be featured each year, based on the order in which they ratified the Constitution or became states. Due to the aggressive minting schedule, each State Quarter will be minted for only about 10 weeks. As a result, mintages of each quarter only are to be just a fraction of the "normal" quarters are. Regular issue coins will be minted at both the Philadelphia and the Denver Mints. The mint marks can be found to the right of George Washington's portrait on the obverse: the small "P" indicates the Philadelphia Mint and the small "D" refers to the Denver.
