About this Product

The Washington State Quarter was the second State Quarter issued in 2007. It was also the 42nd coin in the series because Washington was the 42nd State to join the Union. The Washington coin will be followed by the coins for Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah to complete the 2007 collection. The coins for each state are made for only about 10 weeks before production starts on the next coin. The Washington Quarter shows a King Salmon in the foreground, with Mount Ranier in the Background. The Unique Coin design is completed with the state nickname, The Evergreen State. The nickname derives from the abundance of evergreen trees throughout Washington State. The design of the Washington Quarter was selected through a competition that attracted more than 1,500 entries. Washington Governor Chris Gregoire announced the winning design on May 4, 2006.

This Collectors Alliance exclusive product contains three uncirculated quarters: one each to represent the circulation from the Philadelphia and Denver mints, and a third to show it's unique design. The album tells the story of the state and it's acceptance into our Union. PLUS, fascinating facts about the state. The back page shows a map of the United States and a diagram indicating the order of which each state in the program will be released.

In December 1997, America's most adventurous coin program became a reality when President Clinton signed legislation authorizing the U.S. Mint to issue the innovative 50 State Quarters collection. Starting in January 1999, each of the 50 states in the Union will be honored on a unique Quarter Dollar commemorative coin. Due to the aggressive minting schedule, each State Quarter will be minted for only about 10 weeks. The mint marks can be found to the right of George Washington's portrait on the obverse: the small "P" indicates the Philadelphia Mint and the small "D" refers to the Denver.
