The 2016 Mark Twain Silver Dollar: In Honor of the Literary Legacy of Samuel Clemens

Samuel Clemens, better known by his pen name Mark Twain, is one of America's most celebrated authors. After almost two centuries, his work is as famous as ever...in fact, his 28 books have been translated into
more than 75 different languages! In 2016, the United States Mint released a special coin to commemorate
the 180th anniversary of his birth, and boy was this coin a beauty! In honor of tomorrow, the 132nd anniversary of the publishing of one of his most iconic works The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, we have searched the nation far and wide to put together a small collection of these iconic Uncirculated Silver Dollars.

It is easy to see the connection between the coin's design and the author's great literary legacy. This special silver piece bears an obverse displaying a portrait of Twain holding a pipe with the smoke forming into the silhouette of Huck Finn and his companion Jim on a raft in the background.
