Annie Jump Cannon is known for being one of the pioneers of Astronomy who over the course of a 40 year career manually classified more start than anyone else in history – over 350,000! Not only did she identify and define the most stars ever, she also invented the system that we still use today in Astronomy to classify them! She had such an impact that an award was named after her that is given out annually!

The design of these new innovation dollars features a silhouette of Annie Jump Cannon against the night sky with several shining stars visible in the textured night-sky background. The inscriptions ‘UNITED STATES OF AMERICA’ ‘ANNIE JUMP CANNON’ ‘CLASSIFYING THE STARS’ and ‘DELAWARE’ are all also visible.
