The American Silver Eagle had the same design since it was first struck in 1986, so when the U.S. Mint announced last year that they would be changing the design for the first time ever – the world took notice!

The 2021 ‘Type 2’ Silver Eagle had a brand-new reverse design featuring an incredibly detailed bald eagle, a bird synonymous with freedom, with an oak branch, symbolizing the strength of our nation, clutched between its talons as it descends to land in its nest! The obverse of the coin featured an updated and enhanced version of the original Adolph A. Weinman rendition of our very own Lady Liberty as she strides forward enveloped in the folds of the American Flag!

The 2022 Silver Eagle is the first full year with the new reverse design, making it one of the must-have coins of the decade! Firsts always hold a special place in any collection--let alone one as long running and prestigious as the American Silver Eagle!
