A Silver Predator from the New Year is Here!
The 2022 1oz Silver Roaring Lion
No one does 1oz World Silver quite like the New Zealand Mint. Their silver 1oz coins are some of the most sought after Silver Wildlife coins released annually – and we are proud to announce the arrival of the newest in the series: the 2022 1oz Roaring Lion!
The Silver Pride Returns – 2022’s 1oz Roaring Lion
The Roaring Lion series was started in 2018 by the New Zealand Mint, who strike the silver coins on behalf of the Island of Niue. These coins have become some of the most popular Silver wildlife coins in the world, in large part due to their combination of rarity and stunning design!
Each of these stunning Roaring Lion coins features an incredibly detailed rendition of a lion's head & mane, with a crown atop its head. The design is so detailed you can actually make out the individual whiskers on his face! The ‘Aleph Tav’ Symbol (תא) on the crown reveals the lion’s identity as the Lion of Judah. Behind the lion is a reflective regal floral-like pattern that accentuates the beauty of this design. At the very bottom of the obverse are the specifications of the coin of “ONE TROY OUNCE” and the exceptional purity of “.9999 FINE SILVER”.
The reverse of this coin features the Ian Rank-Broadley’s rendition of Queen Elizabeth II alongside the inscriptions ‘NIUE’ , ‘2022’ , ‘ELIZABETH II’ , and ‘ONE DOLLAR’.
This special piece will have a total mintage of just 150,000 coins, making it one of the rarest of the year!
Did you know? The Lion of Judah is mentioned throughout the Torah, with the first mention coming in the Book of Genesis when it was given to Judah by his father Jacob. The Torah notes that the lion became the symbol of the Israelite tribe of Judah, a tribe that consists of the descendants of Judah. Judah was the fourth son of Jacob.
