Description

The Morgan Dollar is the Fabled Silver Dollar of the Wild West. It was issued between 1878 and 1904 and then again in 1921. It was struck at 5 US Mints; Philadelphia ( no mint mark ), San Francisco ( S ) , New Orleans ( O ), Denver ( D ) and the Carson City ( CC ). The mint mark can be found on the reverse of the coin at approx 6 o'clock just above the letters D and O in the word "Dollar". Each coin was struck out of .900 fine silver from the famous Comstock Load in Nevada.

The Morgan Dollar was the largest circulating silver dollar in US History. Over the years, over half of its mintage has been melted for its silver content. The Pitman Act of 1918 melted over 350 million, followed by over 40 Million for the Manhattan Project ( The making of the atomic bomb in WWII ) .. and lets not forget the Silver Rush of the early 1980's when an ounce sold for over $50.

Each of these Morgan Dollars is in Uncirculated condition and presented in our custom lens presentation. Dates & Mints our choice.
