Nevada is the 36th coin overall to be released because it was the 36th State to join the Union. The winning design shows three galloping wild horses, with the sun rising behind snow-capped mountains. Sprigs of sagebrush on the left and right hand sides also frame the coin. Sagebrush, which has been the official state flower since 1917, is a shrub that grows in Nevadas deserts. The design is completed with a banner bearing the states nickname, "The Silver State".
