The most prominent image on the Northern Mariana Islands Quarter is a large limestone latte, which was a supporting column for traditional buildings. Also shown is a canoe to represent the native populations seafaring skills, two white fairy tern birds, and palm trees on the Pacific shoreline. The design is framed at the bottom with a Carolinian mwar(head lei)that is composed of native flowers (plumeria, ylang ylang, peacock flower, and Pacific basil).
