The Perfect Lincoln Lover Collection: The Memorial Cent Album

The longest tenured coin in U.S. history is our Lincoln Cent...which was first introduced in 1909. This long-running series can be broken down into 4 distinct time periods: the first 50 years were known as the ‘Wheat Cent reverse’ and lasted from 1909-1958, which was then followed by the ‘Memorial Reverse’ design that lasted from 1959-2008, they then created a special release ‘Centennial Celebration’ in 2009 that featured four unique designs detailing the life of Lincoln, and finally from 2010 to today, we have the Lincoln cent ‘Shield Reverse’ design.

Of all the different Lincoln cent designs to be minted during the history of the series, the one that stands alone as the iconic image of the ‘Penny’ is the Lincoln ‘Memorial reverse’…and for a limited time you can add the entire run of Lincoln Memorial Cents to your collection today!

Did You Know? Technically speaking, there is no such thing as a ‘Penny’ in U.S. Coinage...the term is actually derived from a combination of the British term ‘Penning’ and the German Word ‘Pfennig’ both of which were the smallest denominations in their respective languages. When the newly independent colonies in America began to circulated their own copper-cent piece, they used the German and British words out of habit, and the ‘Penny’ was born!

The U.S. Mint’s Longest Minted Coin in History! (220 years and still going strong!)

For most of the last half century, the US Mint has made more Lincoln Memorial Cents than any other coin... in their minting entire history (that is over 220 years of production)! The only downside to the widespread circulation of these coins is that it made finding quality pieces a nightmare! I mean, when is the last time you saw a crisp, clean uncirculated red-brown colored coin in your pocket change?

We understand how hard it can be to find quality uncirculated Lincoln cents from prior years, so we did the hard work for you! We have assembled a limited number of complete sets that include one coin from each year the Memorial Reverse was issued by the United States Mint!

This set includes all Denver, Philadelphia, and San Francisco Mint issues from all 50 years of the Lincoln Memorial Cent (1959 to 2008), as well as both the P and D 1960 Small and Large Dates, the 1982 7-piece (which includes the Large, Small, Copper, and Zinc versions), as well as all 8 of the 2009 Centennial special release cents for a grand total of 119 coins!

All the coins included in this Lincoln Memorial Cent collection are in uncirculated condition, encapsulated to preserve their quality, and will come displayed in our Deluxe Cornerstone Collector’s Album.

(Note: the set does not contain the rare 1970 S Small Date)
