2020 World War II 75th Anniversary Silver Medal -OGP

2020 was a big year for coin collecting… between the special West Point Mint issues, the 2020 Annual collections, or the special release Silver Eagles – it was pretty easy to miss out on a one-of-a-kind silver medal that honored our brave veterans who served in the United States Military during WWII!

These medals were struck to honor the 75th Anniversary of our victory over the Axis Powers in WWII and the “greatest generation” who rose to the occasion when their nation called!

Not only does this coin honor our veterans and their sacrifices during the largest military conflict the world has ever seen – it is also an incredibly rare silver medal from the U.S. Mint! This special silver medal will have a limited mintage of just 20,000 pieces – making it one of the rarest issues of the year!

2020 marked 75 years since the end of World War II – the largest and most brutal conflict the world had ever seen. Were it not for the ‘Greatest Generation’ as they have been coined, we likely would live in a very different world today!

The obverse design of this special silver medal features an eagle mid-flight grasping an olive branch in its right talon. This image was inspired by the 1945 version of the Great Seal of the United States. The inscriptions “LIBERTY”, “1945”, and “WORLD WAR II” are also visible.

The reverse of this silver piece echoes the obverse from the WWII Victory Medal released back in 1945. That original medal featured the ‘sun rising on a new world’ – this new 2020 Silver medal feature that same sun having risen over the last 75 years to ‘Noon-Day’ Brilliance with an Olive Branch on the left above the inscription “75th ANNIVERSARY”.
