An Incredibly Rare Silver Series – the South Korea 1 oz. Proof Tigers!

The South Korean 1 oz. Silver Tiger series started in 2018 after the country’s incredible success with their first 1 oz. silver release, the 2016 ‘Chiwoo Cheonwang Series’. Chiwoo Cheonwang is a Korean deity who is typically depicted as a warrior on horseback and his new series was met with such massive popularity that it led to complete sell-outs!

In Response to the popularity of the 1 oz. Silver Chiwoo Cheonwang series the country of South Korea decided to produce another 1 oz. silver series that featured one of their most iconic wild animals: the Tiger!

Each year they produce an incredibly small number of proof 1 oz. Silver coins with the design changing annually. The coins are produced at the KOMSCO (The Mint of South Korea) in stunning Proof condition. Both the 2018 and 2019 versions had all coins sell-out and with just 1,000 coins.

The design of the new 2020 issue features an incredibly detailed illustration of a Tiger Cub in Seoul, the Capitol of the Republic of Korea (South Korea). The cub is perched on the gate of the famous Gyeongbokgung Palace! Azaleas and Forsythias flowers are also visible surrounding the tiger cub referencing that Spring is near!

The Reverse design features the Korean Peninsular embodied in "Hangul", the Korean alphabet, over a tiger print. The KOMSCO logo is also incorporated into the design with latent letter changing technology to help prevent counterfeiting! oth the 2018 and 2019 versions had all coins sell-out and with a mintage of just 1,000 coins this 2020 piece is sure to follow suit!
