The Washington Quarter was released back in 1932 on the 200th anniversary of George Washington’s Birth. At the time the coin was meant to be one-year-only issue honoring our great nation’s first Commander in Chief, but due to overwhelming popularity Congress authorized the design to be continued indefinitely. The public LOVED the Washington Quarter and its simple yet beautiful design!

They struck the coin until 1998, when it was replaced with the wildly popular 50-State Quarters program from 1999 to 2009 and the National Parks series from 2010 to 2021.
