About this Product

In 2006, the US Mint broke issued a set of two Silver Dollars to honor Benjamin Franklin on the 300th anniversary of his birth. He was one of our greatest scientists and statesmen and revered as one of our original founding fathers. One of the coins depicts Franklin as a Scientist, the other as one of our Founding Fathers.

Silver Dollar displays a familiar image of Franklin in his later years, based on a bust originally executed by French sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon in 1778, while the reverse features a replica of the 1776 Continental Currency dollar, in honor of Franklins contributions to the development of the United States coinage and currency.

TheFounding Father silver dollar was struck in Uncirculated and proof conditions and limited to 250,000 coins in total. It is struck out of .900 fine silver with a net weight of 26.73 grams. This Uncirculated Silver Dollar issue was struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Each coin is in their original government packaging.
