Sacagawea Dollars
In 2000, the US Mint began minting the Sacagawea Dollar, which in 2009 became the Native American Dollar. The obverse features fabled Native American Sacagawea who assisted Lewis and Clark on their westward expedition. Prior to 2009, the reverse depicted a flying eagle. Since 2009, the reverse has changed annually to memorialize Native Americans and the important contributions they made, and still make, in the development of the United States.
