The series began in 2010 and honors one national park from each of the 50 States as well as Washington D.C. and the five territories.This second year of releases will include: Gettysburg, Glacier, Olympic, Vicksburg & Chickasaw. .There will be 5 Quarters released each year. Like the State Quarters, each quarter will be minted from the Philadelphia and the Denver Mint. The obverse design showing George Washington remains unchanged, while the reverse design reflects the National Park that is being honored.The Olympic National Park Quarter features a Roosevelt elk and the Hoh River in the foreground, with Mount Olympus in the background. The Roosevelt elk is the largest elk species in North America; it was named for Theodore Roosevelt, who led efforts to preserve the elk and its habitat at Olympic National Park. The Hoh River originates at the Hoh Glacier on Mount Olympus and flows through the Hoh Rain Forest and the Hoh Indian Reservation before reaching the Pacific Ocean. This is the Philadelphia Minted, uncirculated quarter. It will be encapsulated to protect its condition.
