2016 Gold Centennial Half Dollar

2016 was a big year in coins, namely due to it being the 100th anniversary of the creation of the Mercury Dime, Standing Liberty Quarter, and Walking Liberty Half-Dollar! In honor of this historic milestone the U.S. Mint decided to produce three special edition versions of each coin minted in gold!

The 2016 Centennial Walking Liberty Half Dollar is a stunning golden rendition of the iconic American coin, struck from ½ troy oz. of 24kt. Gold (.9999 fine), and presented in a custom U.S. Mint display box. With a mintage of just 75,000 it is one of the rarest releases from the U.S. Mint in years!

This 2016 Gold half dollar features the same design as Adolph A. Weinman’s original Walking Liberty half dollar design in which the obverse displays a stunning rendition of Lady Liberty in full stride while the folds of the American Flag envelop her. She also has her right hand extended with the branches of laurel and oak in her left hand to symbolize civil and military glory! The Reverse of this design features a majestic American eagle proudly rising, readying for take-off.
