The 2022 Mint Set - A Collection of U.S. Mint Firsts
Most collectors will agree the finest uncirculated coins released by the U.S. Mint each year are in the official uncirculated set - otherwise known as The U.S. 'Mint Set'. What makes these sets so popular is that they contain every denomination issued from each mint during that calendar year... from the cent through the half dollar, and in today’s sets, the dollar.
The Washington Quarter was released back in 1932 on the 200th anniversary of George Washington’s birth. At the time the coin was meant to be one-year-only issue honoring our great nation’s first Commander in Chief. But due to overwhelming popularity, Congress authorized the design to be continued indefinitely. The public LOVED the Washington Quarter and its simple yet beautiful design!
They struck the coin until 1998, when it was replaced with the wildly popular 50-State Quarters program from 1999 to 2009 and the National Parks series from 2010 to 2021. With these series coming to an end, the U.S. Mint decided it was time for a brand-new quarter series: The Women Making History collection.
2022 is the first year of issue in this new quarter series and features the first 5 coins released - immediately making this Mint Set a must-have U.S. Mint First among collectors.
