The Buffalo Nickel: America's True Coin
The Buffalo Nickel is considered by many to be the TRUE coin of America that embodied the spirit of the ‘Wild West’. Issued between 1913 and 1938, it is easily the most popular nickel ever produced by the U.S. Mint.
The design is a timeless classic: the obverse features a proud Indian chief and the reverse a buffalo modeled after America’s most famous buffalo -- Black Diamond of the New York Central Park Zoo. If it were not for the bad design placement of the date which wore off quickly, it is possible that this coin would still be in service today.
Exclusive 3-Piece Mint Mark Sets
We recently came across a small treasure trove of these rare Buffalo Nickels and have put together some special 3-piece mint mark sets containing one Philadelphia, one Denver, and one San Francisco Mint issue.
