The Ultra RARE 'Souvenir' Mint Sets

In 1982 and 1983, the United States Mint did not strike an Uncirculated U.S. Mint Set -- something that angered collectors all over the Nation. It was quickly put back into production at the Mint a short while later.

While this meant many collectors had permanent 'holes' in their collections, there was actually a special set the U.S. Mint made those years that collectors could get -- the only catch was that you had to go directly to the Philadelphia or Denver Mints yourself to get them.

These were known as the 'Souvenir Mint Sets' and were struck at both Mints in 1982 and 1983 in incredibly small numbers -- with the highest mintage in the 'Souvenir Set' series having less than 50,000 total sets. Many collectors weren't even aware they existed at all -- there was no internet or email available to get the word out -- you either knew and grabbed them, or didn't and missed out!

We have a handful of sets struck in 1983 at the Philadelphia and Denver Mints still in the special 'Souvenir Set' original Mint packaging from 20+ years ago.
