2020 Big Cats - 2 oz Silver - Cougar

The Pobjoy Mint always seems to be changing the game when it comes to World Silver, and their ‘Big 5’ African Silver Series from 2019 was a smash hit the world over! The fanfare around these coins was so strong and the demand so great that the Pobjoy Mint has decided to launch a brand new 2oz silver series honoring the ‘Big Cats of the World’! Each of these new 2oz coins have been struck from .999 fine silver and are part of a special 5 coin set.

This new series started this year off right with the first four 2020 2oz coins: the Lion, Cheetah, Panther, and Tiger – which have already become some of the most sought after coins of the year so far!

The ‘Big 5’ series by the Pobjoy Mint was an absolute smash hit with coin collectors around the world… and it is easy to see why! They combined incredibly small mintages of just 500, a unique 2oz size, and some of the best designs we have seen on a coin in the last two decades!

The new ‘Big Cats of the World’ series will feature the same miniscule mintage of 500, the same special 2oz size, and each coin will feature a high relief design with an incredibly detailed image of the Big Cat in question.

The best part about this new series? It is keeping the mintage limits of just 500 from before – almost assuring us that these will be fast sell-outs like their 2019 ‘Big 5’ counterparts! Each of these special silver dollars is struck by the Pobjoy Mint on behalf of the Republic of Sierra Leone and is struck from 2 ounces (50 gams) of .999 fine silver.

The 5th and final coin in the series focus’ on the Cougar. The design features an incredibly detailed left-facing Cougar’s Head, with the inscriptions ‘Big Cats’ and ‘Cougar’ also visible. The reverse of the coin features the Republic of Sierra Leone’s Coat of Arms.

Did you know? The solitary hunter is also quite an Athlete… they have a max speed of 35-45 MPH and can jump 18 feet into the air from a sitting position or up to 40 feet horizontally!
