Get ready for something exciting. For the first time, there are Fractional Silver Eagles available. The Fiji Mint has made something special. They've created a set with the famous Type 1 Silver Eagle design by Adolph A. Weinman and John Mercanti. They've only made 10,000 sets, so they're quite unique.
This new set is like the American Gold Eagles but made of silver. The coins were minted in one-ounce, half-ounce, quarter-ounce, and tenth-ounce sizes, and they're made of 99.9% pure silver. The coins have the same beautiful designs from 1986 to 2021: Weinman's Walking Liberty on one side and Mercanti's Heraldic Eagle on the other. There's also a tiny Fiji Coat of Arms because these coins are legal currency in Fiji, an island in the South Pacific Ocean.
Who doesn't love a reverse proof finish? It's the opposite of a regular proof coin. Instead of having shiny details on a frosted background, these coins have shiny backgrounds with frosted details. All four coins in this 2023 Fiji Silver Eagle set have been checked by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) and are in near-perfect condition, graded as NGC 69.
