Ancient Greece was the cradle of democracy and the origin-point of some of the greatest technological and sociological changes in world history -- and no ruler was more impactful than Alexander the Great.
These ancient silver Drachm coins were minted by the Alexandrian Empire more than 2,340 years ago and are the perfect piece of history for any collector.
The design of these silver Drachms features an image of Herakles (or Hercules as the Romans called him) on the obverse. The other side of the coin features an image of Zeus sitting atop his throne with a scepter in one hand and an eagle in the other.
Some over the years have tried to claim the image on these coins is of Alexander the Great himself and not Herakles, but there is no concrete proof of this as the image changes slightly based on the region that it was minted in -- they struck the coin at over 90 different mints across the Alexandrian Empire!
